先週末の土曜は、午後遅めに東京駅へ。この展覧会へ会期末駆け込みしてきました。
『生誕120年 安井仲治 僕の大切な写真』

2024/02/23-04/14 (月休, 4/8開), 10:00-18:00 (金-20:00).
戦前戦中に大阪「浪速写真倶楽部」「丹平写真倶楽部」を拠点に活動した 安井 仲治 の回顧展です。 『アヴァンガルド勃興 近代日本の前衛写真』 (東京都写真美術館, 2022) を観て [鑑賞メモ] 意識するようになったところ、
まとまった形で作品を観るちょうど良い機会と、足を運びました。
最初期1920年代の写真はソフトフォーカスのプロムオイルプリントでピクトリアリズム的な作風で、
1920年代末頃から次第にゼラチンシルバープリントのシャープが画面の新興写真らしい作風へ、
そして、1930年代後半になると新興写真以降のアヴァンギャルドなコラージュ写真やシュールレアリズムへと、戦前日本の写真の潮流を追うようでした。
しかし、そのような潮流の典型のような作品よりも、ピクトリアリズムと新興写真の移行期の試行錯誤したような写真や、
港湾労働者やメーデーを捉えた写真に感じられるジャーナリスティックな視点が、印象に残りました。
そして、そんな作風の変遷を経て39歳で病没する直前の1940-42年に撮られた、
山根曲馬団を捉えた『サーカス』シリーズ (1940)、
勤労奉仕として撮った傷痍軍人のポートレート『白衣勇士』 (1940)、
ヨーロッパからシベリア経由で日本に逃れてきたユダヤの人々を捉えた『流氓ユダヤ』シリーズ (1940) などは、
ここまでに培ってきたモダニズムの大胆な画面作りと社会状況変化に対するジャーナリスティックな視線がここぞという点で出会った作風で、見ごたえを感じました。
