先々週末土曜の話になりますが、晩に渋谷でこのライブを観てきました。
KAZE + Ikue Mori

モリイクエ [Ikue Mori] (electronics); ゲスト: 石川 高 [Ko Ishikawa] (笙 [sho]).
2010年代から継続的に活動を続ける日仏混交の improv の4tet KAZE は、
近年、ニューヨーク拠点の Ikue Mori を加えた編成でツアーやアルバム・リリースをしていますが、その5tetでのライブです。
自分が観たライブでは、雅楽の楽器 笙 をゲストとして加え、曲の区切りが3回程あったものの休憩無しの短いアンコール有り、約1時間半の演奏を聴かせました。
KAZEの演奏は特殊奏法を多用して爆音ではないものを刻んだ音を手数多めに繰り出す展開の少しとっ散らかった印象を受けるものです。
そんな KAZEの 音に、Ikue Mori の electronics もドローンではなくグリッチ音を空間に撒くような音出しもマッチしています。
しかし、笙 (sho) のリード管を束ねた倍音成分が多い音をゆったりドローンのように持続させて演奏することが多く、KAZEのスタイルとは対照的です。
1曲目は「交互」というタイトルが付けられて、そんなKAZEのチャカポコとした演奏と笙の持続音が交互に出てくる展開。
あえてその対称的な音を際立たせるような展開に、取り合わせの相性悪いんだか、妙な取り合わせが面白いんだか、聴きながら戸惑うところがありました。
笙もロングトーンではないしゃくる様な音を使うこともあり、次第に馴染んでいった感もありましたが、最後まで聴いて違和感を感じたライブでした。
