I don’t really have anything to say about these. To listen to them directly, click on the links on the left sidebar. And this isn’t really an album but rather a collection of mashups I’ve already put up, so apologies for the varying quality and volume levels.

I am working on an album though. I’m afraid I’m scratching the proposed H!P-COMPLETE album project (it’s way too old already), and doing a Buono!-themed album instead, titled Buonissimo!. I also have a Koha album and more general albums in the works. Stay tuned.

Rottara Rottara (clean instrumental and vocal rip)

As you may be aware, the official instrumental track for Buono!’s “Rottara Rottara” is not an ideal track to work with, whether you are dubbing or remixing: The “rottara rottara” and “dore kurai”, etc., bits are left intact in the instrumental, which means you don’t have the option of dubbing those vocals yourself or using those bits cleanly in a remix. Luckily, a clean instrumental is used as background audio in the Single V release for “Rottara Rottara”. The entirety of the track isn’t available in this fashion, but both verses and the first two instances of the chorus are, albeit not contiguously.

I’ve assembled as much of a clean instrumental as I was able to, and also made a mostly clean vocal rip. Some of the parts have been moved around, so this isn’t completely faithful to the original piece: for example, the third instance of the chorus is actually the first chorus repeated (same lyrics but different performer arrangement). Also, some of the backup vocals and the trailing “rottara rottara” segment at the end are still in the instrumental because I couldn’t remove them.

The corrected instrumental and vocal rip are available here in WAV format. You can do whatever you want with them. Enjoy and good luck!

I’ve used “SOME BOYS! TOUCH” as a backing track before, for one of my very first mashups, but it never gets old.

THE MADAYADEPOWER!!! — Berryz Koubou × Morning Musume.

I never liked “THE Manpower!!!”. I still don’t. But it’s a little more interesting now.

FoRever in youR Eyes — °C-ute × Tommy february⁶

This one was a bit tricky since “FOREVER LOVE” has parts in both major and minor scales. 😦 So I had to turn the minor verses into major verses. It was partly successful, I think. Also a little weird.

CHE.R.RY wa NS — YUI × Kira☆Pika

“Futari wa NS” is one of my favorite all-time H!P songs. Yayz.

Furusato Hanabi — Morning Musume. × Watarirouka Hashiritai

“Furusato” like you’ve never heard it before! Now you can rock out to it! *dances*

GET UP! BOY — SALT5 × Buono!

I just love twice-tempo mixes. Here’s another one.

Sougen no Warp! — Buono! × Matsuura Aya

I love half-tempo mixes too. They’re usually hard to do because there’s often audible instrumental residue. But this was a clean vocal rip, so yayz. And Buono! needs to do more ballads.

This one has its moments. Largely a failure. Oh well.

Rakuten Eagles ga Jama wo Suru — GAM × AKB48

Probably the most natural-sounding artificial key change in my remixing history (there’s no key change in “Daisuki Rakuten Eagles”). Those are hard to pull off; they often end up crackly or Chipmunk’d. Yay for Melodyne!

LU LU LU no Inori — GAM × Mano Erina

A tearjerker and one of my personal favorites. “LU LU LU” has never sounded so sad and hopeless before. Too bad the vocal rip was a mess. 😦 *shakes fist at UFW*

Hatehatena no Waltz — Hanasaki Cobeni starring Kikkawa Yuu × Eco Moni.

My first 3/4-time mashup. (H!P very rarely releases any non-4/4 time songs.) Quality isn’t too great for various reasons, lack of an instrumental being one of them. It’s a shame neither of the artists represented were ever given their own single and instead had to piggyback on releases featuring other artists. (The linguist in me is screaming at the grammatical weirdness of that last sentence. Ahem.)

Yaguchi’s vocals are a bit too much for this song.

Semi-requested by Mars. I had the toughest time with this one. It was practically impossible to get a decent vocal rip out of “Uwasa no SEXY GUY” … this was the best I could do. It still has audible instrumental residue; hopefully it’s not distracting.

The K!☆Mix Kollection — Volume 4

Since the last post, I’ve posted a number of new mashups to my audio repository …

Ki ga Happy Birthday — NEWS × Matsuura Aya

Yes, this is a Johnny’s × H!P mix, requested by misa. I’m afraid I’m not much of a Johnny’s fan. None of their music have grabbed me yet, but who knows? Send me any recommendations you might have … they might end up being mashed with H!P.

Kimagure Ready? — Tommy heavenly⁶ × ikimono-gakari

My first completely non-H!P mix. Alas, this and my two previous Tommy mixes were DMCA’d and taken down from YouTube, by the request of Defstar Records, Inc. I think remixes are fair use, but I don’t really have the resources to fight this in court, and I don’t really care that much anyway. In my opinion, their actions (including taking down pretty much everything that makes use of Tommy february⁶, Tommy heavenly⁶, and the brilliant green recordings) is doing them more harm than good. I happen to own 13 Tf6, Th6, and tbg CDs, and none of them would have been purchased had I not encountered Tommy by chance on YouTube during the summer of 2007. But anyway … these three mixes will still be up here, unless Defstar finds out about them as well.

Planetaria — Otsuka Ai × ikimono-gakari

Requested by pengie. This is my first mashup of two songs having the same title: “Planetarium”. The backing track has been upshifted two semitones.

Tamago love — Shugo Chara Egg! × Perfume

I seem to having good results with Shugo Chara Egg! × Perfume mashups. This one’s also a polyphonic mix preserving the original Perfume vocals from “Puppy love”. They make pleasant background vocals, I think. I can’t wait for Shugo! Shugo! to come out.

It’s always nice to have tracks that match in key, tempo, and title. This pair even have the same exact key change. Amazing coincidence.
