My buddy Bert finally has a website: Wing Nut Designs Metalwork.

I'm still messing with the code, and don't have a mac handy. If it blows up in one of those browsers, let me know.

Google Maps are the new blogger cat pics.

Satellite image of Philosophers Walk in Toronto

Above the Bloor St entry of the Philosophers Walk behind the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto there is a beautiful dragon lamp that no one notices. It's invisible because when you leave the Walk you're moving into the peopleflow of the busy sidewalk, and as you enter you're making sure there are other people inside so you won't be mugged. You never look up.

Anyone else get vertigo from seeing the north side of buildings in the upper hemisphere? Makes me feel like I'm leaning forward too far. I'm not managing to shake convention.

Another fun sat shot is the new Seattle Public Library. First, I can't find it where it should be, and second, that area is a collage of three different viewing angles. Serious Cubism.

Monday, April 18, 2005 - 4:51 AM -

One of the best ones I got was just listening to two guys who came on their skateboards. "Wait, wait, wait -Come here!" I could hear the other guy still zooming around on his board. "What is this thing?" They put the quarter in, and "Whaaaa... Uhhh.. I, I, aah Whoaaaa-yaaggghh, uunnnnh...ergggghhh." This went on for minutes -no words, just these sound utterances. They couldn't verbalize what they were seeing. An incredible response. I just cracked up and was rolling on the floor.
