Power (armor) to the people.

It looks like Fortnite’s post-apocalyptic crossover with Fallout will include Power Armor, though it’s unclear now if they’re just character skins or some kind of in-game power-up. All should be clear when the new season of Fortnite drops on Friday.

All the Upside Down’s a stage.

While we wait for the final season of Stranger Things and its animated spinoff, Netflix is teasing fans with a trailer for The First Shadow, a play in London that also serves as a prequel. But hey, maybe the trailer is a sign that a home version of the production will eventually be available to stream.

Wake up babe, new emoji just dropped.

The Unicode Consortium has proposed adding these seven additional emoji to the standardized catalog referenced by iOS, Android, and other devices.

The beta review period for Unicode 16.0 lasts until July 2nd, after which the new emoji should be officially approved. It can, however, take several months for companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Google to make their own designs so don’t expect to see them immediately.

Seven new emojis coming to iOS: A face with eye bags, a leafless tree, a harp, a root vegetable, a fingerprint, a shovel, and a splat of color.
I think that eyebag one is going to make a frequent appearance in my group chats.

First demo of T-Mobile’s Direct to Cell service.

The video call works, barely, and that’s before fighting other LTE-compatible phones for access to the T-Mo service first announced in 2022.

But when the choice is no coverage versus this, well, I’d call that a win. And it’ll only be available for texting later this year in the US, with data coming in 2025 as SpaceX launches more D2C Starlink satellites.

The Apple Education Store got a shiny reboot.

The old discounted education store looked pretty outdated, but it’s been redesigned and now it looks a lot closer to Apple’s mainline digital shop, and it’s much easier to find discounts on specific items.

Maybe a good excuse to go rooting around for gifts for grads?

The Philips Hue app got a nice quality-of-life change.

Android Police spotted that as of the April 30th Hue Android app update, you can change what all the lights in a zone or room do after they regain power by tapping the three dots menu for that room or zone, then Edit Room > select all > Edit.

You can also just tap “Move to” and move them somewhere else. The iOS app works the same way.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character rankings debunked.

In a new video, game creator Masahiro Sakurai says all SSBU fighters have an online victory rate between 47.18 percent and 51.43 percent, giving them all about the same shot at winning.

And that one character you think is OP? Sakurai blames the online “echo chamber” for pushing the idea that some fighters are stronger or weaker than others.

Pixel phones can once again control the volume of Google Home speaker groups while casting.

This feature was available before Sonos sued Google but didn’t return when Google restored most software features following its victory last October.

But with Android 15 Beta 2, Pixel users will once again be able to control the volume of grouped speakers with the phone’s buttons from outside the app that’s casting.
